This is a challenging and stressful week for family K...
We visited our gynae last Thu afternoon for my constant cramps. I had this crampy feeling on and off for almost 2 weeks, but did not seek for any treatment. Mommy was over-confident as this pregnancy considered a smooth sailing (no morning sickness, spotting and etc) until Thu morning. I was down with flu and cough, which then triggered the bad cramps. After few hours of self-monitoring, I finally called Dr. YC to ask for her advice. She suggested me to go down for immediate check-up. Without any delay, daddy and mommy reached her clinic within 40mins.
Thank god that baby is doing very well. As usual, he is super active, measured 679g @ 90 percentile. This explains that why mommy can constantly feel his karate kicks everyday! Hee...

HOWEVER, mommy is not doing good. Scan results showed that my cervix is shortening and this is the cause of my frequent cramps! Gosh! In a healthy pregnancy, the length of cervix should be around 4-5cm. My cervix was measured 3-3.8cm and it further reduces to 2.6-3.2cm when baby's head pressing down. Dr. YC alarmed us that if it continue to shorten, along with the constraction, I may go into early labour and lose my baby! Although CTG can't pick up any of big contractions, I do feel my tum tum tightening/hardening sometime. To play safe, Dr. YC ordered a bed rest for me to minimize the movements and I am required to take anti-contraction medicine to relax the womb. According to her, if my cramps persist and cervix shortens further, I will need to admit for stronger medication.
I felt so guilty towards my baby, I am so sorry darling. Mommy failed to take good care of myself and almost threaten your life. Mommy knows that this is not the right time to play hero, mommy will definitely be good, rest well at home and do everything to protect you. Mommy has to admit that I was very stressful over the works and did not rest well, and maybe that's why mommy's body started to protest!Initially I was quite sad that I am unable to carry Isaac anymore. I cried with him on Thu night when he needs me but I can't do much for him. But I knew that I need to be strong for both my precious babies, I adjusted myself and decided to take things easily. Now I am a happy mommy, because with helps of hubby, I can still attend to him well. Besides, instead of carrying him, I do other activities with him, e.g. playing puzzles, reading, writing, cuddling him on bed etc.
Saturday's review showed that my condition is under controlled now. *Phew* I was given another week of MC to rest well at home, and continue with the medication to stabilize the condition. Dr. YC commented that my cervix is unlikely will go back to "normal" length, but we can definitely do our best to prevent it get worse. Yes! Mommy will do my best and rest well. Baby, please hang on and cooperate with mommy too...
Will go back for next check-up this Thu, keeping my fingers, toes and hairs crossed....Kindly pray for us ya!
