A Day @ NUH

Check-in to ward 47 bed 1 around 615pm.

Taking weight. The machine showing the wrong reading of 6.696kg (He was 6.9kg 2-3 weeks ago). Mommy requested nurse to re-weigh and confirm bb J is ~7.3kg now.
I am a tall baby like daddy, ~66cm now.

Taking body temperature and blood pressure.

Failed to get the blood pressure reading thru his leg as he is very active and kicking a lot. Retake again at his arm.

Fell asleep at around 9pm before being awake for I.V. plug insertion at ~1030pm.

It tore me apart when hearing bb J cried his lung out for ~20mins during the insertion procedure. The docs poke him twice as they had difficulty finding a good vein for I.V. plug. *#$%&@* My poor baby...

CT scan was conducted @9am for ~15mins only. Baby J was wide awake very soon after back to the ward (he was sedated through oral medicine), but "knockout" shortly after latching. He was super duper hungry from fasting (515 to 9am). It really heartpain seeing him wailing for the milk. Mommy had hard time to calm him down, but luckily still manage to pat him back to sleep after ~25mins of "fighting".

Still can find his pacifier -thumb! Haha...

Mommy, where is my milk milk?!

考验!

Nanny spotted a lump at the end of Jovan’s right eyebrow few weeks ago. Yes, we parent overlooked as it is very small and unobvious to us. Most importantly, it does not bother him at all, bb J still drinking and sleeping well so far. We checked with the PD during his vaccination on 1st Dec, suspected it could be a epidermoid/dermoid cyst, which is benign, thankfully! We were referred to a Pediatric Surgeon at Mt. E by the PD, but hubby and I decided to check with Surgeon@KKH instead.

I contacted my good friend ML, whose son just removed a lump at his neck not long ago by A/P Jacobsen @ KKH. I quickly dropped doc an email and here is her reply:

“It is more likely in this position to be an external angular dermoid. Naturally these cycts will continue to grow slowly, and may erode the skull bone while doing so. Hence surgical review with a possible plan for excision (later) will likely be required.”

We made an appointment with her on 18th Dec initially after receiving her reply. However, HB’s best friend advised us to get the referral from polyclinic in order to enjoy the medical subsidy from garmen. Luckily we did so as the insurance company really sucks, they have all sort of ways to protect their pocket, we may not able to have medical fee reimbursed (still waiting for my agent’s reply, hoping the good news is on its way). Through polyclinic, the earliest appointment with KKH will be on 28th Jan, which is pretty long from now. Thus I requested a surgeon from NUH instead. Am glad that we managed to see the surgeon on 20th Dec @ NUH. Baby J will need to admit on 27th Dec afternoon, preparing for a CT scan on 28th morning, to check if the cyst is linking to the brain, hopefully not. Mommy will need to check-in with bb J as he is a total-breastfeeding baby. Most likely he will need to go under the knife to get rid of the cyst, but doc advised is better to wait until he hit 10kg if possible. We will decide on the treatment after getting the results from CT scan. Thank you all for your concern, we are coping well (not too bad as the cyst is not life-threatening and can be treated through a minor op). Although we will definitely feel very heart pain for sending bb J into OT, but we will be strong and jiayou for him.

Please pray for us! Thank you very much!

My Little Sweetheart

11 Dec 2010 Saturday:
Mommy was bathing while daddy taking care of boys at living room. After a while, baby J decided to start his usual drama – wailing the roof down to look for mommy. Have experienced his determination countless time, so mommy bathed at rocket speed in order to take over from daddy. Before I done, I heard someone knocking the bathoom’s door. The moment I opened the door, I saw my dear Isaac standing there, pointing at didi. Hoho…apparently he wanted me to come out faster and calm his didi down, my little sweetheart...

12 Dec 2010 Sunday morning:
Mommy was busy in the kitchen while daddy washing the car downstairs. The boys were entertaining themselves in the living room. Baby J started his drama again after a while. Mommy quickly stopped the chores and washed the hands. Suddenly bb J stopped crying, made mommy worry and ran out to check on the naughty boys. Hoho…I caught the heartwarming scene, gorgor was saying-ing didi and entertaining him with a toy, my little sweetheart…

12 Dec 2010 Sunday afternoon:
I arranged the message lady to unblock my blocked ducts during boys’ nap time. Half way thru the massage, Isaac woke up earlier from his nap. I have no choice to bring him with me and witness the 2nd part of my massage session, including how I screamed when ML clearing my blocked lumps. The message session is good and relaxing at first, I love the part when ML clearing my ducts by channeling thru limphatic drainage. When daddy back from running errands, I described to him about my massage session. The kapo Isaac was with us throughout the conversation, so I decided to get him involved.

Mommy: Isaac, mommy was very painful and screaming right?

Isaac who still dunno how to talk but he signed “shame shame” to hb.

Mommy: …………………………..

The Smiling 3-Month-Old

Baby Jovan is 3 months old! And yes, he started to sleep through the night a day before he turned 3 months (his longest record was from 10pm+ to 6am), although he can still wake up once/twice in a night in some bad day. Hoho...hope that I can graduate from "Oh bak kak" club soon. He geeting very talkative until my nanny commented he is a "Ji Cha Kong" *LOL* Oh ya, he has learnt to flip over from his back to his tummy at 3 months 4 days old. Good job baby!
